I personally have always seen the positives that the sharing economy has to offer. However, as of late I have spoken to several people who are still skeptical of this new form of business/ or lifestyle. The sharing economy can provide you with several benefits to your life from eco-friendly options, wallet happy choices, and social trust integration.
Eco-Friendly
Accommodations
Accommodations rentals in the sharing economy can also be eco-friendly. By choosing home rentals over a large hotel stay you can help reduce your personal water consumption. How? Hotels use excessive amounts of water because they are continually doing large washing loads throughout the day.
After every stay, or sometimes even daily they will change your sheets and towels. When you stay in accommodation homes, you are able to have control over the washing amount and water usage.
Carpooling
Carpooling- is when multiple people make an arrangement to travel to one destination using one vehicle. A concept that was once just used between friends and neighbors is now a new business model.
Companies like GoMore, BlaBlacar, and many revolve around this concept. Carpooling reduces the amount of Co2 that is put into the air because it reduces the number of cars on the roads.
Earnings/savings:
Rent accommodation costs are meager compared to hotels prices. Peer to peer rentals offers considerable savings that beat hotel rental prices. With the money you will save on your stay-location you can put towards adventures and experiences on our vacation.
Also, while you are on vacation, you can rent out your own home for another person traveling, and gain income. With the sharing economy, there are several sources to earn a side income. You can put up listings any many categories, such as renting your car out, listing your home, ride- sharing when taking a long trip, and many other ways.
Socially:
Socially the sharing economy is re-implementing trust into the westernized culture. For a period of time interacting with strangers was not the norm. Technology, social media, and the sharing economy are vital players in the reestablishment of this social reconnection. We have reached a time again in our society where we are comfortable renting our lodges.
Currently, we have adapted to this option of allowing strangers to enjoy the comforts of our home and belongings. Which, has involved and grown our social trust as a whole. Overall this is a significant benefit for us all, as we are building together.
“By using companies within the sharing economy, you will not only reduce your carbon footprint, grow your wallet size, but also build new relationships. At Lentii we help connect you with several companies with several types of solutions. “
